Antonio Vidal

Antonio VIDAL is an artist born in Cuba in 1928 and died in 2013.

Son of a Spanish immigrant, he died in July 2013. He was part of the group of abstract painters known as "Group of Eleven", who created avant-garde art in the late 1950s and at the triumph of the Revolution he was one of the most active intellectual groups in the country, both for their work and for the international recognition they enjoyed. He was also a founding member of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba and the Taller Experimental de la Gráfica.

AWARDS

In 1973 his work was recognized with the Second Prize in Painting. Hall of Professors and Instructors of Plastic Arts, National School of Art (ENA), Havana, Cuba.

In 1999 National Prize for Plastic Arts. Ministry of Culture, Cuba.
