Antonia Eiriz


Antonia Teodora Eiriz Vázquez (Havana, Cuba, April 1, 1929-Miami, Florida, USA, March 9, 1995) is a Cuban painter. It developed in the manifestations of painting, engraving, assembly and drawing. She studied at the National School of Plastic Arts “San Alejandro”, Havana, Cuba, from 1951 to 1957. Professionally she worked as a teacher at the National School of Art Instructors in Havana, between 1962 and 1964. From 1965 to 1969 He was at the National School of Art (ENA) in Havana and in 1982 he served as a jury at the III Quadrennial of Artistic Crafts of the Socialist Countries, Erfurt, German Democratic Republic, among other functions.

AWARDS

Throughout her career she was recognized with different awards: in 1961 Honorable Mention at the VI Biennial of Sâo Paulo Museu de Arte Moderna, Parque Ibirapuera, Sâo Paulo, Brazil; in 1962 and in 1963 First Prize in the Second Latin American Engraving Competition, Latin American Gallery, Casa de las Américas, Havana; in 1965 Special Mention for his entire work.
